About Us
Resilient Pathways was founded through the collaborative vision of Christine Pennington and Suzanna LoMagno, two former educators who recognized the need for a new approach to addressing trauma and adversity within schools and rural communities. Together, they shared a passion for strengthening families, supporting youth, and helping communities better understand the impact of trauma on learning, behavior, and relationships.

Today, Christine Pennington serves as the Executive Director of Resilient Pathways, leading the organization’s programs and community initiatives in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Under her leadership, Resilient Pathways operates a Family Resource Center that provides youth and families with supportive programs designed to strengthen relationships, build emotional regulation skills, and help young people redirect negative behaviors toward positive life outcomes. The organization is grounded in the belief that every child can overcome adversity when surrounded by encouragement, guidance, and consistent support.

Suzanna LoMagno was an integral part of Resilient Pathways as a Co-Founder and former Board member, contributing meaningfully to the organization’s vision and long-term mission of building stronger families and communities. She played a key role in developing Resilient Pathways’ school connection programs, and her expertise in education helped shape the foundation and direction of this work.

Pennington and LoMagno also co-authored Reinventing the Wheel! Creating Cohesive Learning Communities, a work that outlines strategies for schools seeking to develop trauma-sensitive environments and strengthen connections among educators, students, and families.

Together, they also developed The Pupil Premise™, a framework centered on developing healthy, resilient youth by identifying the key influencers in a child’s life and leveraging those relationships to foster growth and stability. Their work has focused on helping schools, families, and communities adopt practical strategies that strengthen family systems and support positive behavioral change in youth.

Through its programs and partnerships with community organizations, Resilient Pathways continues to expand its efforts to support families, reduce negative youth outcomes, and promote resilience in the face of adversity. The organization’s mission remains rooted in empowering children and families with the tools, relationships, and support systems needed to build stronger futures.
